In the early morning hours of Defcember8, 2023, Newte Woodrow “Woody” Ferguson, age 61 went home to heaven to be with Jesus. From his home in South Shore, KY. Woody was the beloved and only son born to the late Newte and Lura Williams Ferguson on May 24, 1962.
Woody grew up on the family farm on Newcombe Creek Road in Elliott County where he loved riding on the tactor with his dad while taking hay to feed the cattle. He loved riding his bike, often carrying his dog Suzy girl in his basket.
With his quick smile that lit up his whole face, and gracious warm hugs that brightened our souls, Woody never saw a stranger. He loved everyone and everyone he met loved him. He was one of God’s little angels that graced this earth to show the rest of us how life should be lived. He brought abundant joy to our life and the love we had for Woody cannot by conveyed in words.
Woody loved to shop and always had something in mind that he wanted to buy. He was a master at crafts and loved playing games on his computer. Woody spent much time entertaining himself and others as he played one of his guitars and sand along with a CO if his favorites, Johnny Cash.
Woody attended special classes at Sandy Hook, KY where he dearly loved his teachers and classmates.
Woody’s family extends special thanks to dear neighbors and friends, Gene and Dusty Tinsley, Jackie Felty, Tonya Anderson, Mike Kennard and his doctors, Dr. J. Querubin and Dr. Gregory Craft. Your caring compassion and helpful deeds will never be forgotten and held in our hearts forever.
