Lawrence Lewis

Lawrence Lewis, 86 of Bruin, KY went home to be with the Lord Friday, August 12, 2022 surrounded by loved ones. He was born March 12, 1936 at Bruin, the son of the late Ennis and Bertha Stapleton Lewis. He was also preceded in death by family members:  brothers, Beecher Lewis, Emerson Lewis and Ennis Lewis. Sisters, Pearl Griffith and Lucille Gillum. Brothers-in-was Russell Griffith and Edgar Gillum. Sisters-in-law Opal Lewis, Eunice Lewis and Ailen Lewis.

Lawrence was a Christian, he served as a deacon at the Upper Bruin Enterprise Baptist Church for many years. He retired from Carpenters local 472 in1997 and an Army veteran. He was loved by many in the community.

Lawrence is survived by his loving wife who he married August 17, 1957, Wanda Lewis. He is also survived by two brothers: J.D. & wife Doris Lewis, Hansell & wife Louise Lewis. Sisters, Emogene and husband Raymond Mobley, Regina and husband Larry Hudson. A niece that is like a daughter, Kim & husband mark Pennington. Another special great niece, Whitney & Tyler Barnett. Two very special great great niece and nephew, Aubrey & Kash Barnett. Lawrence is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral will be conducted at the Upper Bruin Enterprise Baptist Church Friday, August 19, 2022 at 1:00 PM with Bro. Leo Ison, Bro. Michael Lewis and Bro. Jesse McDavid officiating. Burial will be at the LM Porter Cemetery at Bruin with military service conducted by Elliott County VFW Post 11428.

Friends may visit at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home Thursday after 6:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to be made to the Upper Bruin Enterprise Baptist Church in memory of Lawrence Lewis.
