James Logan Maggard

James Logan Maggard 11/8/1937- 8/26/2022

James passed peacefully from this life at St Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, KY.

James was a simple man, never one to be impressed by worldly possessions. He enjoyed the simple things in life: fishing, sitting on his porch with his animals, visiting with friends and family when they would stop by. He loved to tell stories of the good ol’ days. He often talked about the work he did on bridges and all the new places that life took him. He also loved to tell us all stories about the time he spent as a truck driver. He’d talk about going to work during a strike and people shooting at him and his coworkers for hauling during a strike. He’d laugh recounting those stories that would scare most of us. He wasn’t afraid of anything, except maybe a mouse. He loved westerns and wrestling and was nicknamed “The Macho Man”. An instant smile would come to his face when someone would refer to him as such.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Elisha and Jewel Maggard, twin brother that passed at birth Charles, infant sister Ruby, sister and brother in law Glenna and Ray Markwell, his brother and sister-in-law Jack (Jean) Maggard, his former wife and mother of his Children Sylvia Maggard.

Surviving him are his daughter Linda Wheeler of Sandy Hook, son Glen (Jill) Maggard of Flat Gap, son Donnie (Jessie) Maggard of Alliance, OH and son David (Angela) Maggard of North Benton Ohio. He is also survived by his grandkids Justin (Kelly) Maggard, Kristen and Makayla Wheeler, Caleb Maggard, Logan and Lyla Maggard, Paige and Colton Hill of Alliance, and two great grandchildren Sophia and Elana Maggard. Also survived by his sister Eliza (Ralph) Skaggs, Brother John (Bernice) Maggard, long time companion Ruby Cox and children. He is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will deeply miss him.

Funeral Services will be held at Lewis and Ferguson Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 1:00 PM. Visitation Tuesday  at 11:00 AM until service hour. Jason Johnson and Ricky Lyon to officiate.

With interment to follow at Whitt Cemetery. Friends and Family are welcome to attend.
