James Adrian Greene passed away Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020 at the Veterans Hospital at Lexington, KY.
James was born in Elliott county July 19, 1930, the son of the late James Benton Greene and Nancy White Greene. He was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Ralph and Kenneth Greene; Bessie Greene Holbrook, Grace Greene Dickerson and Amanda Greene Brown
On July 29, 1953, he married the late Laveren Whisman and to this union had four children: James M. & wife Jeanie Greene of Grayson, KY; Ronnie & wife Kay Greene and Bobby & wife Pam Greene of Sandy Hook, KY; a daughter, Lanette & husband Johnny Justice of Grayson, KY survive him.
On May 27, 1995, he married Barbara Dohm, and welcomed two step-children: Greg & wife Gail Dohm and Charon Welsh. Many grandchildren, great grand children as well as many step grand and great grandchildren and so many extended family and friends.
Adrian, as he was known in Elliott County, first and foremost was a Christian and a member of the Laurel Gorge Enterprise Baptist Church and loved to attend Fannin Enterprise Baptist Church. Adrian retired from Addington Brothers as a supervisor when coal was booming. He did have a company that he shared with Peter Thompson called Greene Construction Company. His passion was to farm and raise a garden.
Before a lot of his accomplishments that provided for his family, he was a VETERAN. HE WAS A VETERAN OF THE Korean war and proud to serve for military funerals. He was a member of Elliott County VFW 11428 in Sandy Hook.
Adrian was so very proud of all his family. Family and friends will miss him so much.
The family wants to send a very special thank you to the staff at the Grayson dialysis center, especially Dustin and Sarah, as well as the staff at the Lexington VA Center for the care and kindness you showed our husband father.
Funeral will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, November15, 2020 at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home at Sandy Hook, KY. Visitation will start at 10:00 AM for the public.
Burial in the Elliott County Memory Gardens.
