H. Karlene Redwine

Hazel Karlene Redwine, born on June 28, 1950, the eldest daughter of the late Carl and Pauline Redwine, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2023.

Throughout her life, Karlene touched the lives of many as a teacher in Louisville, Kentucky, shaping the minds and futures of numerous students. As a talented florist at The Flower Basket in Sandy Hook, Kentucky, she had a natural gift for bringing beauty into the world.

For many years, Karlene called Orlando, Florida, home, where she resided alongside her sister, Nancy. She was always eager to open their home to family and friends who made the journey for a vacation in the sun. Her generous spirit and enthusiasm for making lasting memories turned these visits into cherished traditions. To Karlene, Florida was not just a place to live but a place to share.

Survivors include her sisters, Becci Fulks (Bob) of Sandy Hook, KY, Nancy Clevenger of Naples, FL, and Cindy Redwine (Terry) of Sandy Hook, KY. Her nieces and nephews are Bryiant Clevenger (Misty) of Naples, FL, Cathy Byron (Jim) of Morehead, KY, Jason Markwell (Ashleigh) of Flatwoods, KY, Joseph Markwell (Jamee) of Sandy Hook, KY, and Melissa Markwell (April) of Georgetown, KY. Karlene is also survived by the children of her nieces and nephews and a host of extended family who will sadly mourn her passing.

A celebration of Karlene's life will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 3:00pm with visitation beginning at 2:00pm at Lewis and Ferguson Funeral Home, where family and friends will gather to remember and honor Karlene.  Burial will follow at Elliott County Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers include Joe Markwell, Brody Markwell, Bryiant Clevenger, Terry Holbrook, Bob Jessie, and Carl Simmons.

The family extends our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Elliott Nursing and Rehabilitation, and a special nurse, Kristina, for her exceptional care and compassion during Karlene’s time there.
