Gwendolyn Kay (Farley) Harris

Gwendolyn Kay Harris, 74 of Olive Hill in Elliott County passed away Friday July 29, 2022 at St Claire Medical Center at Morehead, KY. Kay was born June 28, 1948 at Dayton, OH, the daughter of the late Earl and Sarah Mae Gibson Farley. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jeff Farley.

Kay was a Christian and of the Baptist faith. She was a light to many people as well as her family. It was shown by a smile on her face during good times and through the many adversities she endured knowing as she would say, “God has blessed me”. Her and Jr. started their day with daily devotionals knowing that her Lord and Savior was there with them.

Kay never knew a stranger and would love talking to each. She was very gifted at cooking (best pie maker) and caring for others by cooking and praying for them. She loved nature and the farm life her and Jr. shared. She enjoyed listening to Ryan, her grandson play bluegrass gospel music. Besides her Lord, she loved her family more than anything and was so very proud of them.

She married her love Chester Harris, Jr. Feb. 25, 1967. This union welcomed two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Kay Harris Gillum and husband Steve of Grayson, KY and Tamara Rae Harris McMonigle and husband James of Georgetown, KY. Two grandchildren, Ryan Austin Gillum of Morehead, KY and Lauren Taylor McMonigle of Georgetown, KY. Two brothers and two sisters, Michael Farley of Elliott County; Bill Farley & wife Sherry of Florida, Linda Johnson & husband Jerry of Elliott County and Judy Skaggs & husband Wayne of Raleigh, NC as well as many extended family and friends that will sadly miss her.

Funeral will be held Monday,  August 1. 2022 at 11:00 AM at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home at Sandy Hook, KY with Bro. Ricky Lewis and Bro. Brian Flannery officiating. Burial will be at the Elliott County Memory Gardens. Friends may call Sunday, July 31, 2022 6:00-9:00 PM at the funeral home.
