Gladys Lewis (Lewis) Wheeler

Gladys Lewis Wheeler, 96 of Ashland, KY, formerly of Isonville, KY passed away peacefully Sunday, October 10, 2020 at the home of her daughter.

Gladys was born April 1, 1924 at Isonville, KY; the daughter of the late Richard F.  and Della Adkins Lewis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Gordon Wheeler as well as 4 brothers:  Ralph Richard Lewis, Jr., James, Donald, and Dallas Lewis.

She was a Christian and member of the Newcombe Valley Baptist Church. She retired from teaching in the Elliott County School System. She had received her Rank 1. Gladys was instrumental in many people getting their GED, and furthering their education. She was a firm believer that knowledge was one thing that no one could ever take away.

Gladys is survived by her loving daughter, Rachelle (Shelly) Wheeler Wells  and son in law James Wells of Ashland, KY. Two grandsons and their wives:  Joshua C. & Jen Preston, Ian Kye Wheeler & Sam Hardy as well as a great granddaughter, Raven Hardy, A life long friend, Minnie Adkins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, Oct.  14, 2020  at the Elliott County Memory Gardens at Sandy Hook, KY at 1:00 PM with Bro. Mike Adkins officiating.
