Obituary

Brother Emmett Barker, age 82, of Louisa, KY, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023 at his home after an extended illness.

Emmett was born June 17, 1940 to the late John L. and Martha Sparks Barker. Emmett retired from Marathon Petroleum after 35 years. Emmett devoted his life to spreading God's Word and served as Pastor of Elizabeth Baptist Church for over 45 years in Martha, KY.   

Emmett is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carol Hay Barker, Louisa, KY; daughter, Johnda Barker, Martha, KY; granddaughters, Haylea Barker, Lexington, KY and Emme Barker, Charlotte, NC; brother, Estill Barker (Mary), Somerset, KY along with nieces, nephews and his Elizabeth Baptist Church family.

Visitation for Brother Emmett Barker will be at Elizabeth Baptist Church on Wednesday February 15 from 11 am-1pm, with funeral starting at 1pm. Pastors Keith Sturgill and Lenny Wheeler will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Elliott County Memorial Gardens, Sandy Hook, KY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elizabeth Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
